Joyce Henderson

For many years, I was the single mom with five kids. I worked as a nurse and as a freelance writer to support them. With two or three or four doing science fair projects at the same time, they had to learn independence early-on!

I'm the author of four books and many magazine and nursing journal articles. I also enjoy writing historical and romance novels. I look forward to collaborating with my daughter Heather on several more projects including being a Grandma!

I didn't really have much success at the science fairs my first few years competing. Now I'm very glad that I stuck with it! Most of my college education was funded by scholarships directly or indirectly related to competing in science fairs.

While I didn't major in science in college, I learned lessons at the fair that impact me today.

In addition to the two science fair books, my short stories for children and photographs have been published in several magazines and newspapers, including Pockets for kids. I enjoy photography, reading, and gardening.

Both authors are available for speaking engagements and can be reached via e-mail.
